I got this for a home theater computer to observe downloaded videos on my LCD TV. I had checked out the Mac Mini and alternative choices, however selected to shop for this. it's identical nVidia 9400M graphics because the Mac Mini and it's regarding identical size (maybe smaller). the sole distinction between a pair of} (other than $350 in price) is that the Ideacentre uses a twin core Atom rather than a Core 2 couple processor.
The dual core Atom D510 is surprisingly zippy. With the ION graphics, it's no hassle handling 1080p video (x264 with DTS for example). Out of the box HDMI video with audio over HDMI worked sort of a charm. it had been extremely plug and play. Has optical digital audio out on the front (SPDIF) if you wish it. Runs quiet. Even has the VESA bracket to mount it to the rear of your LCD TV!
The included remote is extremely smart overall. Took me some minutes to understand that the USB transceiver was stored within the battery compartment of the remote. Once I found it and plugged it in, it worked nice. solely (trivial) grievance is that there aren't any operate keys.
If you wish atiny low HTPC that may play something, provide this tiny guy some serious consideration!I've been using this little unit with my Panasonic Viera Plasma for 2 months now. It does what you ask it: great HD video quality, fast snappy performance, useful small RF (no infrared receiver hassles) HTPC Remote Control. Virtually silent running and very compact and sleek form factor. We use it to access all our networked content, and also to stream netflix and other video. The ability to use browser for video which is not yet available in 10' interface makes it very versatile. I wish it had bluray but we'll probably add that later and for the price I am not complaining. Windows 7 Home Premium OS works like a champ. A completely versatile and modern add on for your home theatre setup.
