Making a peyote drink?
First I'll say that I live in the UK where the following is legal. I'm sure it's not legal in the USA though.
Could you used a high % alcohol (such as Stroh or Absinthe) to sort of 'dissolve' the alkaloids out of a cactus? I've experimented with it before by oral consumption, but it seems to either make people puke or give them, err, diarrhea.
I don't want to try to extract the mescaline directly as that is illegal (and not safe for someone who knows nothing of science).
However, I don't want to try this only to find it doesn't work (since it would be a terrible waste of a rare plant), and I've had these growing for around 10 years now from 4 year old cuttings.
